Feminine Vapours
A student model twirled & swirled a shear fabric in the Photography 101 classroom. I double exposed a roll of Tri-X. The images were shot with a 50mm then the film rewound and shot again with a 24 mm. I knew what I wanted but had no idea how these would turn out. I am pleased. I wanted to have the two movements appear as one. I wanted fluidity, grace. She always appears twice.
The first printed images failed and I didn’t know why. Two years on I did. There is zero fluidity or grace in a hard edge rectangle with the fabric abruptly truncated at the edge of the frame – the Oval Angels need to float, to be vapors. The oval is a void of great depth.
